ECU Writing Centre Rebrand & Identity Design

Oct — Dec 2024

The Learning Space

Software Used: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, Standards

Skills Gained: Collaboration, client work, file organization, typesetting, adaptability

The Learning Space is a brand "refresh" for Emily Carr University's Writing Centre. The completion of this project involved working in groups and directly with the Writing Centre staff through workshops, interviews, and pitches.

The objective of this rebrand was to give the Writing Centre a new, consistent, and fresh identity that gives students agency and clarity regarding their services.

The Writing Centre is an amazing tool and service but many students are not fully aware of what they have to offer.

They are so much more than just writing!

Our brand refresh serves to make that visible so that everyone is able to use the Writing Centre to its full potential.

The Learning Space is a trusted service for students at Emily Carr University offering creative, academic, and professional enrichment. Run by staff and aided by students, we provide individualized, peer-to-peer and group workshops, so that together we can build students’ competence and support their learning endeavours.

We promise to provide an inclusive and collaborative space for students to receive constructive feedback on their work, and to offer support so that students can feel guided and motivated.

Our Co-Creation Workshop

The focus of this co-creation workshop was to get on the same page as the staff working at the Writing Centre/Learning Space. We wanted to generate more ideas for the trueline, call-to-actions and solidify a visual direction. Our group collaborated with 2 of the senior staff who were eager to see how we were progressing.
